This sector is also generating employment opportunities to millions of people. Its contribution in the economy of UK is almost £40billion. This sector occupies the 4th position among all the other sectors in the year 2011 in contributing most towards the GDP. Other than this, the scope of this industry is also very diverse and large (Iqbal, 2011). Commercial stores like hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs, guest house, fast food outlet, takeaways, motels etc. all are included in this sector. It also comprise welfare sector such as hospitals, educational institutions, prisons, hall of residence etc.

Talking about the major operator within the UK hospitality industry such as InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), it is a British multinational hospitality company being headquartered in Denham, Buckinghamshire. The hotel group was originated in the year 1777, when William Bass established the Bass Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent. In 1969, he has made his first entry into the lodging sector by launching the Crest Hotel chain. Furthermore, in the year 1989, the government of British has limited the number of pubs and thereby, Bass’ expanded in the hotel business by purchasing Holiday Inn from the shareholders. Now, the hotel has around 799923 guest rooms and more than 5,367 hotels in almost 100 different nations of the world. In addition to this, the products and services of IHG includes many such as food and accommodation, conference halls, beauty salon, meeting rooms, swimming pool, internet, sauna bath, gymnasium, Jacuzzi, night clubs and many more. Organizational structure of various hospitality firms

Speaking in relation with the structure of the organization, it is nothing but an arrangement of positions that specifies the relationship between different people and departments of the organization. Organization structure plays a crucial role, as it helps in providing direction so as to achieve the pre-determined goals and objectives and at the same time, coordination among the activities of the employees is also achieved. Five Star Hotels - The structure of the five star hotels is generally dependent on the competence, quality and hierarchy of its workers. In hierarchical organizational structure, different types of positions are pre-defined that significantly illustrates the hierarchy of positions (Carver, 2017). The top level of the pyramid defines the position of hotel's Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Next, the management staff, which is being headed by the general manager of the hotel. He looks after the operation of the hotel and may hire some assistant manager who can see the matter on a daily basis. Under the general manager, there might be many other personnel such as restaurant manager, catering director, human resources director, wine manager, front office manager and many more.

Catering service - The catering service firms generally adopts functional organizational structure, as they have numerous functions to perform. They not include cooks and servers but it involves the whole management team that takes into consideration the main tasks i.e. handling, management and communication of the client. The positions and roles are divided as per the functions. Tasks are defined according to their specialization. It includes marketing manager, finance manager, human resource managers, catering sales managers, head of cook and purchase manager (Catering Company Hierarchy, 2018). They are further divided into bakers, cook, chefs, cleaning staff, assistant cook and banquet servers.

Theme park - The operation of the theme park is wide and in numerous locations and thus, for such theme park, matrix organizational structure would be more apt. It is the hybrid of divisional and functional structure. Matrix structure is commonly adopted in large organizations where there is a need to process large amount of data.

Role of hospitality related organizations and professional bodies

People 1st - In order to increase the performance of the companies through people, this organization works with the employers in order to implement the solution. It also supports the regional and local bodies growth plans and renders a supporting hand in generating job opportunities and information. Assessing the staffing need in various hospitality business

In the hospitality sector, staffing is being driven by hiring of graduates into number of operational as well as management role. For instance, taking an example of intercontinental hotel groups, it can be well versed that they have vast number of staff members across various cities in UK (Nickson, 2006). There are many job roles and positions being offered by the hotel such as finance manager, HR manager, F&B manager, hotel manager, catering manager, food service staff, cook, chef, housekeeping manager, supporting staff, hotel and accommodation management etc. All these people are required to have different skills and abilities according to their type of job. For example, front office executives, food service staff and restaurant staff are required to possess good communication skills to better satisfy their guests.

On the other hand, talking about the staffing requirement in a fast food outlet, which is operating at the global level, it will comprise some different personnel in comparison with the fine dining hotel such as IHG. They require general manager of the store, delivery team and basic operational staff (Srivastava, 2008). They are required to possess communication, management and operational skills. In addition to this, if throwing light towards the small local B&B service, it will include manpower which will carry out roles related to cooking, cleaning, greeting customers etc. they are in great need to maintain customer service for more footfalls.

Discussing the roles, responsibilities and qualification needed for staff

In the above paragraph, various types of staffing requirements in different hospitality industry is being discussed. It was found that there are many roles and positions for which different set of skills and competencies are required. They also need certain qualifications to make themselves eligible for the respective jobs (Walker, 2004).
