The people who take such responsibility remain answerable and accountable for their work (Søgaard, Kristensen and Bech, 2015). Evaluation is a process of understanding the significance and value of a subject by utilising several approaches set up by the government. Wisteria Village is an 80-bed facility located at the center of town, which provides health and social care to patients with effective management. MAIN BODY

5 rights of delegation and principles

I am a registered nurse, I have started working in Wisteria Village from seven months and now have been given night duty. My duties are to perform round checks and to monitor the state of each and every patients along with my other colleagues. During night hours, I know that one must delegate some of the task to the other co workers too, for this I have decided to take the assistance of five rights of delegation so as to make the major decisions regarding delegation. Such rights have been discussed below.

Right tasks – In this part which tasks have to be delegated to a certain individual will be determined. My role here would be ask few questions like which task are ethically suitable to delegate or the task which will be assigned will have to be based on the policies and the guidelines of an organisation or not. Providing answers on such questions will later aid in understanding the guidelines which are incorporated in nurse practices and services (Lee and et.al., 2015). Registered nurses like me are accountable for assessing and evaluating such nursing processes, thus such task can not be given to those who are not registered nurse.

Right circumstances – Once the task which can be delegated have been identified, I have to consider right circumstances of delegation. For such practice, few questions have to be asked like whether enough resources are accessible for undergoing the task or does the environmental factors are suitable for delegation. For completing such process I have to assess all the clients who are quite stable with their health condition. If the victim are at special diet then delegation of feeding them as per their diet is the top most priority.

Right person – If the identified task as well as the circumstances are right then next step is to select the right person for delegation. My prior duty would be ensure whether the chosen person have deep knowledge for accomplishing the delegated task accurately, especially to those patients who are more vulnerable. The job description and past experience has to be understood primarily, which further assist in assigning suitable job role. For knowing such background, I have to ask questions like have the person received proper training or whether they have attained any task without any kind of supervision.

Right supervision – At every circumstances right supervision have to be provided. One of the duty of registered nurse is to render supervision so as to direct the delegated task. Proper feedback have to be addressed from delegatee once the task have bee completed. As per this, my duty is to monitor as well as evaluate the conclusion of the task associated with the patients. The registered nurses are responsible for maintaining and monitoring the potential outcomes and the impact on patients health and welfare (Franzoni, Milani and Vallverdú, 2017).

Right communication and direction – Another right of delegation is to provide correct instruction as well as directions by effectively communicating with the delegatee. The duty of delegator is to have a healthy interaction which can provide precise objective associated with the task that has to be managed. The duty of registered nurse it to guide other co workers on how, what and when to do the routine task as per the standard guidelines. I have to check whether they have understood their task and the roles they have to play while completing such practice according to the provided time framework.

Using such rights of delegations, I can successfully take care of the needs of patients and can accomplish my daily task of doing round check ups and assigning duties to other members for delegation. Jorja, Thomas, Diana, Priya along with me has to take care of the patients during night shift by attending the patients having different syndromes.

Select actions using evidence informed sources

During my night shift, while evaluating the condition of Mrs. Peterson I should have immediately consulted with the present doctor when her body was cooled, breathing was abnormal and eyelids were half open. Priya being highly experienced must be assigned for closely examining the status of Mrs. Peterson immediately so that the condition of patient can be stabilised right away. Mrs. Lee who were requesting for some paracetamol, voltaren gel and hot pack for sore knees. Such situation was already faced by me in past which got managed by providing such medications. I should have send Thomas with all the requested things to Mrs. Lee because he also works in community services and know hoe to handle aggressive and abusive patients. Thomas must have been taught to comfort such victim with gel and hot pack so that her condition cane be improved. Diana must be sent to find Mr. Lloyd, because she in being working in the facility since 23 years and know each and every area for the hospital as well as the town. She is the most reliable delegatee at this time as per the situation. Jorja being an immature and less experienced can not be given the delegation of monitoring the patient alone, thus I have assigned him to attend Miss Bell who fell down from her bed. Once I get the information about Mrs. Peterson, high authority doctors and delegatees must be informed immediately for gathering all the resources which can be employed for evaluating if there is 1% chance to save the patient. I along with other team members should comfort the family members also for making them strong to face such difficult situation.

Principles of leadership, teamwork and preceptorship

The use of preceptorship, leadership and teamwork assist in accomplishing the task collectively in the most unique way and have been considered necessary to adapt the ever changing situations of health care systems and to improve the well being of patients. The principles of teamwork, preceptorship and leadership are described below.

Leadership – The process of leading a whole group, team or an organisation effectively have been referred to as leadership. Some of the principle are:

Know yourself –For strengthening the whole group, it is chiefly essential to know and understand the key attributes and the skills an individual has through self study, observation and indulging in conversation with other delegatees. The leadership is not a power it is an art which shapes the behaviour and actions of a person and such practice eventually help in achieving task in such health care institution (Redfern, 2019).

Listen carefully – The leader must minutely listen to each detail the co workers have to share related to work. By careful listening, the status of patients like Miss Bell and Mrs Peterson was known, thus such practice is required to be incorporated in every organisation.

Teamwork – The collaborative efforts of staff members is order to attain a certain goal in most efficacious and efficient manner. Some of the principles are:

Adaptive –The team members have to adapt as per the situation for successfully handling the patients (Bar-Gill and Sunstein, 2015). Irregular shifts at night or at early morning in hospitals has to be managed and irrespective of time full potential must be delivered for handling and improving the condition of mental, physical and socially unhealthy people.

Common goals – The team members have to work for treating a common patients collectively if the condition of such victim is more severe. At the time of comforting Mrs Peterson, every associates have to work as a team to ease the patients as well as the family members.

Preceptorship – Such model focus on rendering learning environment within the health care units which can be used by nurses to adapt into their duties and learn new skills and also to get socialise in the existing organisation. The principle of preceptorship is to provide support to each and every members of group for making them adaptive and attaining competitive goal for making the hospitals and health care centres more productive (Cole and Harbour, 2015). Thereby, the most essential variable of preceptorship is individualised support which are rendered in practice by the preceptor.

CONCLUSION

From the above report it can be concluded that, providing delegation and making an effective evaluation plan is required in achieving a specific goal and heal in delivering productive care to the patients. I have learned that Right tasks, Right circumstances, Right person, Right supervision, Right communication and direction are 5 rights of delegation which helped me in assigning task to the team members.
