Employees are considered as an important part of an organisation as they contributes in some ways so that company can gain competitive advancement. For having an effective growth organisation optimises proper resources through which they can achieve their goals and objectives (Burke, Wight and Chenoweth, 2018). In this assignment the company which has been taken is Virgin Atlantic which is an airline organisation. The report will throw light on different leadership styles firm can adopt in order to increase the performance of the enterprise. Apart form this effective communication medium that Virgin Atlantic has adopted is mentioned in this assignment. Apart from this, what kind of methods that company can optimize for making an effective team.
TASK
a) According to the current market scenario, various leadership styles are available in the market which most of the companies and leaders utilise for having an effective growth. As from the mentioned case scenario it has been concluded that Virgin Atlantic is facing disputes amongst their company and pilots because of which firm is facing problems in business operations. Therefore, the organisation is using different leadership styles for motivating employees some of them are mentioned below in order to understand it in a better manner:
Democratic leadership style: This type of leadership is very common and effective as it is helps an organisation in decision making. It is highly productive as it includes every individual in interaction because of which it increases group morale. Democratic leadership styles best suits while making creative solutions as in this every individual can give their views and thoughts for making an effective strategies (McNicoll, 2015).
Authoritarian leadership styles: Under this kind of leadership style the person only focusses in maintaining the relation with an individual on professional basis. Therefore, a person who is having this kind of leadership qualities set a vision that can be achieved and controlled by the person. Other than this, they use one way and downward direction of communication so that a decorum is maintained between employees and superiors.
Therefore, Virgin Atlantic company has optimised democratic leadership styles in their business operations. It is enabling them in having a better interaction with their employees and as a result it is creating a transparency between workers and superiors (Hopkins, 2011). Although this style of leadership style is very effective but sometimes it can lead to communication failures and because of which task may not be accomplished.
Other than this, company is observing employees performance by evaluating them on a regular basis and based on this superiors are giving them appraisal and it is helping them in sustaining the loyalty of workers. Henceforth, the points that are mentioned above is assisting them in motivating their employees and as a result it is company is gaining better results and outcomes (Cozine, 2016).
b) Leadership is an effective issue and it is growing day by day, as leaders are considered as one who guide other individuals so that they can perform the task in an effective manner. Therefore, to run a company it is required that the person who is leading have some leadership qualities like he/she must be able to influence the others in an appropriate way. Other than this, the person should be able to communicate with their subordinates so that the plans can be explained properly. Therefore, the person who is leading the company must be capable of managing the team in such a manner that they all perform the task for a common goal. Thus, the person who have the ability of promoting change in an organisation by its vision and strategy.
Furthermore, Virgin Atlantic must work as per the current market situation because in this rapid changing environment and in this, the role of leaders plays a crucial role.
